Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) is bringing back another one of drivers’ most requested features.
As Business Insider reports, automatic windshield wipers that magically activate when the glass gets wet — and adjust speed accordingly — will be reappearing soon after a year-long hiatus:
All Tesla vehicles used to have them until the company rolled out the second generation of its Autopilot hardware in October 2016. Since then, Tesla has focused on updating other elements of its new cars before turning its attention to windshield wipers.
A Twitter user asked CEO Elon Musk about them on Monday, in response to a tweet from Musk soliciting advice from Tesla owners.
Musk also noted that the company will begin working on its much-anticipated pickup truck once the Model Y SUV is completed. That vehicle is slated for a 2019 or 2020 release.
Tesla stock has soared this year despite major production delays for its Model 3 sedan. The company’s first mass market vehicle has seen big demand from buyers, but thus far it’s been completely unable to keep up with demand, and only a few hundred cars have made it to owners so far.
Tesla Inc shares fell $0.38 (-0.12%) in premarket trading Thursday. Year-to-date, TSLA has gained 45.84%, versus a 21.92% rise in the benchmark S&P 500 index during the same period.
TSLA currently has a StockNews.com POWR Rating of C (Neutral), and is ranked #19 of 24 stocks in the Auto & Vehicle Manufacturers category.
