Wall Street is set for a lower start on Monday, and moving pre-market ahead of regular trading is LifePoint Health Inc (NASDAQ:LPNT).
Shares in the care provider surged over 34% in pre-market to US$64.25 on M&A (merger and acquisition) news.
Private equity group Apollo is reportedly in advanced talks to acquire the company in a bid to consolidate the rural US hospital sector.
The deal could value LifePoint at close to US$6bn, including debt.
Tennessee based LifePoint operates hospitals across 22 states, focusing mainly on small towns and rural communities.
Elsectric car firm Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) was also in the news (as it often is) before the bell. Its stock took its foot off the pedal and shares fell around 4% to US$300.78.
In the latest twist to the story of Elon Musk's run group it emerged the company had reportedly asked some suppliers to return part of the money it’s paid them since 2016, including for past work.
It is asking the suppliers for refunds reportedly in a bid to help it reach profitability.

The group is voluntarily recalling some of its Ritz crackers, which were made with an ingredient that could have been home to the salmonella bacteria.
Mondelez said the supplier of the whey powder for its crackers had recalled the ingredients.
Meanwhile, toy and doll giant Hasbro Inc (NASDAQ:HAS) shares surged 8.5% to US$102 after its second-quarter profit and revenue firmly beat expectations.
Net income dropped to US$60.3mln from US$67.7mln a year ago, or US$0.48 a share but that was still far better than consensus, which was for US$0.29 a share.
